Lane Heymont,

PRESIDENT

Lane’s love affair with literature began at the age of eight when his grandfather offered him $5 to read and discuss the classics of literature. He began his publishing career in 2012 at The Seymour Agency and in 2016 formed The Tobias Literary Agency. His tastes run eclectic, from epics like Beowulf to sports romance like Jennifer Fusco’s Fight For It. Lane represents a broad range of commercial fiction and serious nonfiction.

He has been the #1 agent for horror on Publishers Marketplace and in the Top Ten for women's fiction and romance.

Matt Belford

LITERARY AGENT

Matt joined The Tobias Agency in 2020 after previously working at the David Black Agency and the Aaron M. Priest Agency. Once he received his Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Emerson College, he decided to apply his talents in representing authors, as opposed to writing himself. A lover of all things science fiction and fantasy.

Matt accepts his nerd status readily. Some of his favorite reads include: The Summoner by Gail Z Martin, Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames, Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse, and Red Rising by Pierce Brown.

Maria Rogers

ASSOCIATE AGENT

Originally hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Maria graduated from Kenyon College before cutting her teeth in publishing as an intern at Writers House. She went on to work as an editorial assistant at W.W. Norton & Co. and later as an editor at Scholastic. Over the course of her publishing tenure, she has worked on behalf of Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award winners, Guggenheim fellows, PEN/Hemingway Award winners, and New York Times best-selling authors.

Her work experience has given her insight into many realms of reading, from non-fiction and poetry to literary and commercial fiction, to books for children and young adults.

Natascha Morris

Literary AGENT

Natascha joined The Tobias Agency in 2020 after previously working at BookEnds Literary. With a B.A. in English Literary Studies and a M.S. in Publishing, Natascha is a self-described “publishing nerd.” She spent most of her childhood in a leather chair, with her nose in a book, and her passion for books across genres, coupled with her desire to find amazing talent, drove her to make the transition from editorial to literary agent.

Natascha’s editorial philosophy stems from the idea that all books should be well written and entertaining, and that all children should see themselves and their lives in books.
